NR-12 and Workplace Safety: Highlights from the 8th CapacitaSIT Week with Guilherme Neto

The 8th edition of CapacitaSIT Week, promoted by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE), featured a special presentation by Guilherme Neto from UniSafety, held on November 11 and 12. The event, part of the 2024 National Campaign for the Prevention of Occupational Accidents (CANPAT), focused primarily on occupational health and safety involving machines and equipment, with an emphasis on NR-12.

Guilherme Neto, a renowned Mechanical and Occupational Safety Engineer, emphasized the importance of NR-12 in ensuring worker protection. In his presentation, he highlighted the need for thorough risk assessments, considering not only machine operation but also complementary activities such as maintenance, inspection, setup, adjustment, repair, and cleaning.

The Importance of NR-12 in Machine and Equipment Safety

On the first day, Guilherme discussed essential Safety Systems for the safe operation of machinery. He presented practical examples and video excerpts illustrating how these systems are applied in industrial routines.

The second day focused on Maintenance, Inspection, Setup, Adjustment, Repair, and Cleaning. Guilherme Neto shared his extensive knowledge, stressing the importance of identifying hazards and assessing risks at every stage of the process. He also covered necessary engineering measures, both during the preventive design phase and in the implementation of safety mechanisms.
